Levon Aronian said he would return when he is treated differently and when chess is respected in Armenia as it was in the past.

This is what third President of Armenia, President of the Chess Federation of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan told reporters today, commenting on Armenia’s leading chess player Levon Aronian’s decision to leave Armenia.

“Levon Aronian said everything in his statement. I didn’t encourage his decision at all. I even suggested creating an opportunity for chess lovers to provide him with assistance in Armenia, to which he told me that it’s not about assistance. The truth lies in the statement,” Serzh Sargsyan said.
