Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today received the delegation led by Minister of Defense of Iraq Juma Anad Saadoun Khattab, as reported the Office of the Prime Minister.

“The Prime Minister welcomed the Iraqi defense minister’s visit to Armenia and mentioned that Armenia views Iraq as a reliable partner. Pashinyan also highly appreciated the Iraqi government’s great attention towards the Armenians of Iraq.

Juma Anad Saadoun Khatab said the Iraqi government is interested in further expansion of relations with Armenia and attached importance to the development of cooperation and exchange of experience in the Armed Forces. In this context, the interlocutors discussed several issues related to the strengthening of military-technical and military-medical cooperation and attached importance to the signing of a relevant memorandum between the defense ministries of both countries in Yerevan.

Prime Minister Pashinyan stated that the Armenian government highly appreciates the Iraqi government’s balanced position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. He attached importance to the development of economic relations with Iraq and voiced hope that it will be possible to give a new impetus to the trade and economic relations based on the results of the session of the Armenian-Iraqi intergovernmental commission to be held this year," the press release reads.
