The Government of Armenia is proposing to set a AMD 25,000 duty for importing 1 ton of cement and AMD 9,000 for importing the same quantity of clinker. This is what acting Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan said during today’s discussion on the bill on making amendments to the Law on State Duty in parliament.

Nevertheless, the government is ready to change the amount of state duties, if MPs make appropriate proposals. Kerobyan’s bill concerns the regulation of the process of importing cement and clinker and, in essence, the licensing of the procedure. There may also be a relevant state duty for importing these types of construction materials into Armenia. “The bill is aimed at maximally maintaining the economic potential of Armenia and ensuring the functioning of the two cement factories in the country,” the minister said.
