Moscow hopes the visit of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group helps organize the meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Deputy Director Alexey Zaytsev of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry said this during a briefing Thursday, commenting on the statement of the President of Azerbaijan on his willingness to meet with the Prime Minister of Armenia.

“Russia has always taken as a basis the fact that ongoing dialogue, especially at the highest level, helps maintain a constructive atmosphere for mutual understanding and solutions to disputed issues. The intensive contacts of President of Russia Vladimir Putin with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan helped make it possible to stop the bloodshed in Nagorno-Karabakh and sign a trilateral statement that laid the foundation for the establishment of peace in the region,” he said.
