Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan today received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia Alfonso Di Riso.

As reported the National Assembly of Armenia, the Armenian parliamentary speaker highly appreciated the Armenian-Italian relations in all fields, attached importance to the multilateral interparliamentary cooperation and, in this context, touched upon the programs of the Armenia-Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The parties discussed the need for the speedy return of the Armenian prisoners of war and other persons held in Azerbaijan. With gratitude, Simonyan emphasized the importance of the resolution adopted by the Chamber of Deputies of Italy by which the Chamber of Deputies calls on Azerbaijan to release the Armenian prisoners of war.

During the meeting, the parties stated the effective Armenian-Italian cooperation within the scope of the EU-funded Twinning Project.
