Tajikistan has reported casualties among civilians and border guards in the shootout on the border with Kyrgyzstan.

According to the press center of the border troops of Tajikistan, "A meeting at the level of local authorities and law enforcement agencies of the city of Isfara, Sughdi region of the Republic of Tajikistan was scheduled to prevent such illegal acts of the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.

"However, the Kyrgyz side did not come to the meeting. Instead, at about 6:10 p.m. local time, Kyrgyz border guards, who took up firing positions along the perimeter (275 meters) of the bridge, opened fire from firearms on the civilians of Tajikistan. The intensity of the fire from the Republic of Kyrgyzstan is rapidly gaining momentum. There are casualties among the civilians and border guards of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Kyrgyzstan intensively shells in the direction of Tajikistan—locals, cars, and various infrastructure facilities. The border positions are shelled by grenade launchers.

"Flights of drones have been recorded, which have violated Tajik airspace," reads, in particular, the statement cited by Khovar—the official state media news agency of Tajikistan.
