US President Joe Biden, at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on the sidelines of the alliance summit in Madrid, said that the United States will strengthen its military presence in Europe.

Biden noted that NATO must be able to repel threats from all directions - both in the air and on land, and at sea. The US leader noted that the UK will receive two additional squadrons of American F-35 fighters.

The United States will increase the number of destroyers stationed in Spain from four to six. Germany and Italy also plan to strengthen their air defense forces, Biden said.
