Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu made a statement regarding the normalization of relations with Armenia.

The main problem on the way to the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia is the pressure on the authorities in Yerevan, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a meeting with his Austrian counterpart Alexander Shallenberg in Ankara, Anadolu reports.

Cavusoglu explained that certain circles in Armenia itself do not want peace in the region. According to him, official Ankara is in favor of continuing the dialogue with Yerevan and is ready to gradually advance this process.

Pressure does not allow Yerevan to take bold steps towards normalization. The region needs long-term peace, the minister noted.

He noted that Turkey also supports the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In this regard, the Turkish minister noted the importance of the implementation of infrastructure projects agreed between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including the Zangezur Corridor.

Turkey consults and coordinates its actions with Azerbaijan at all stages, the Turkish minister noted. According to him, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, the importance of the Middle Transport Corridor between Asia and Europe has increased.
