China is a strategic ally of Iran, Ali Akbar Velayati, adviser to Iran's spiritual leader on international affairs, said at a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Chang Hua, Mehr reports.

Stressing the need to strengthen strategic ties between Iran and China, Velayati said, "China continues to develop its communication program, especially in the context of the One Belt, One Road project, and in this regard, using Iran's capabilities."

China is considered a strategic ally of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Velayati said, stressing Tehran's support for the One China policy and condemning US policy.

"The cooperation of Iran, Russia and China in conducting joint maneuvers is certainly very important for the security and fate of the region," he said, adding that Iran is ready to develop cooperation, especially in the Middle East region, as the Middle East is the political heart of the world and Iran has the most influence there.
