After 64 days of continuous flight in the US, a solar-powered unmanned aerial vehicle Zephyr-8 manufactured by the European concern Airbus crashed, Simple Flying reported on Tuesday.

Zephyr encountered circumstances that ended in the termination of its flight. No harm done. The analysis of the received data on the results of more than 1,500 hours of mission in the stratosphere is underway, Airbus told the publication.

Communication with Zephyr-8 was lost on August 19 over the US state of Arizona. The location of the drone has not yet been determined. It is noted that the device has set a new record for the duration of an unmanned flight, more than doubling the previous maximum value.

Zephyr-8 flights took place at the level of the stratosphere. The length of the apparatus was about 25 meters with a mass of only 75 kg.
