China is ready to work with Turkey to raise strategic cooperation relations to a higher level. Chinese President Xi Jinping said this at his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the margins of the SCO summit in Samarkand.

In recent years, China-Turkey relations have maintained a dynamic of growth with steady progress, he said. Evidence has shown that strong relations between China and Turkey serve the long-term interests of both countries and are important for deepening solidarity and cooperation.

At present, the international community faces many opportunities as well as challenges. China and Turkey, as major developing and emerging economies, share many common interests in protecting their rights and interests, striving for development and revitalization, and defending international justice. China is ready to work with Turkey to take the strategic cooperation relationship to a higher level, the Chinese leader said.

Xi Jinping noted that both sides need to strengthen political mutual trust, sincerely respect each other's core interests and strengthen the political foundation of China-Turkey strategic cooperation relations.
