Turkey unveiled a mockup of the fifth-generation TF-X (Turkish Fighter) at the Africa Aerospace and Defense exhibition in South Africa.

According to the head of the Turkish aerospace company TUSAŞ Temel Kotil, TF-X may make its first flight in 2025, and in 2029 the aircraft is planned to be handed over to the Turkish military.

In July it became known that the Defence Industry Authority of Turkey has announced a competition to develop a turbofan engine for TF-X. It is believed that one of the promising power units will allow the aircraft to reach speeds up to Mach 1.8.
