Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) has no future within Azerbaijan. Opposition MP Taguhi Tovmasyan, who is also Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, said this at Monday’s press briefing in the NA.

In her view, the idea that Karabakh can become a part of Azerbaijan means actually being ready to betray one's own compatriots to genocide. The lawmaker is convinced that no resident of Karabakh can live safely within Azerbaijan.

The opposition MP positively evaluated the protests of the Artsakh residents, which started in the last two days. In her opinion, Armenia is obliged to defend Karabakh and its inhabitants.

The parliamentarian noted that the border situation remains alarming.

"Armenia has some problems regarding the strengthening of borders. All that should be resolved as quickly as possible. We cannot complain to everyone forever and not understand that the government is not taking necessary steps to resolve the existing challenges. Armenia must have a properly equipped frontline," Taguhi Tovmasyan emphasized.
