The President of the European Parliament (EP) Roberta Metsola said that the European Union needs more assistance to Ukraine. She called for supplying Kyiv with new weapons, as the sanctions imposed against Moscow are an insufficient measure, CNN reported.

She noted that Russia would continue to escalate the situation and the European Union should respond. According to her, restrictive measures against the Russian Federation alone are not enough, so, Metsola believes, European states should provide the Ukrainian army with more weapons, namely tanks.

Ukraine is requesting them. The EU has the ability to coordinate what is provided to Ukraine. I know that high representatives are working hard on this issue. I know that from the military point of view we can do more, Roberta Metsola said.
