Scientists at a Turkish university have developed a project to transport up to 75 billion cubic meters of gas per year, the newspaper Yeni Safak reported.

The article noted that scientists of the Faculty of Engineering of Gumushane University prepared a master's thesis, three months before the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the possible establishment of a gas hub for supplying Europe.

According to Nafiz Maden, head of the Department of Geophysical Engineering, the gas pipeline project was developed not as a prediction, but only through scientific research.

Maden noted that the natural gas is planned to be distributed to Europe via Thrace in three branches: northern, southern and central.

The scientist added that the northern branch will go to Romania, Slovenia, Hungary and then to Germany, the southern branch will go to Italy, and the middle one to Serbia and other countries through Bulgaria, Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and others.

Maden also said that during the development was assumed to increase the hub from 50 to 75 billion cubic meters at the expense of additional investments.

Earlier President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the international gas hub on the territory of Turkey will be created as soon as possible.
