The police detain the activists ahead of the protest action scheduled for October 24 in front of the Baku City Hall by the Popular Front party at 16 o'clock, Turan reported.

The detainees include the organizers of the rally - members of the People's Front Party, as well as representatives of other opposition forces.

The authorities did not sanction the rally, at which the opposition intended to demand freedom of assembly, the release of political prisoners, free elections, radical reforms and the opening of the land borders.
