Russia's clear position on moving Azerbaijani Armed Forces, which invaded Armenia, to their initial positions is important for Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi.

In the context of border delimitation and demarcation, Pashinyan noted that at the beginning of this process, Yerevan repeatedly noted that the first thing needed was to create mechanisms to improve stability and security on the border.

"Russia's position was that the very formation of the delimitation commission would become a mechanism for border security. We did not share this position, but in the end, we decided to rely on the interpretation of our strategic ally - Russia. But on September 13 Azerbaijan initiated a new large-scale aggression against Armenia and occupied new territories of our country. That is why a clear Russian position with wording about the necessity of withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops as of May 11, 2021, is important for Armenia now," Pashinyan noted.
