In Pakistan, an unidentified man opened fire on a campaign car carrying former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. He and several of his supporters were wounded, the AP reported.

Party spokesman Asad Umar said Khan was shot in the leg and was not seriously injured. The identity of the attacker, who was detained at the scene, could not be immediately determined. No group claimed responsibility for the shooting.

According to police, the attack took place in Wazirabad district in the eastern province of Punjab, Khan was travelling in a large convoy of trucks and vehicles heading to the capital Islamabad as part of his campaign to force the government to hold early elections.

An unspecified number of Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters who participated in the march were also injured, according to a party statement.
