In Slovenia, polling stations have opened for the second round of the presidential election, with former foreign minister Anze Logar and lawyer and civil activist Natasa Pirc Musar running for president, the country's State Election Commission said.

Voting takes place on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, there are about 3,000 polling stations, with about 1.7 million citizens entitled to vote. Polling stations opened on time, without incident.

The first turnout data will be announced at 12 p.m., as of 11 a.m. The second turnout data will be announced at 5 p.m. as of 4 p.m. The first preliminary results of the voting will be known after 19:30, the Slovenian election commission reported.

In the first round of voting, which took place on October 23, Logar received 33.9 percent support. The candidate of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) of former Prime Minister Janez Jansa was Slovenia's foreign minister from 2020-2022 and was noted for his anti-Russian rhetoric, expulsion of Russian diplomats and withdrawal of accreditation from Russian honorary consuls, and in the cabinet for sending material aid and weapons to Ukraine.

Independent candidate Natasa Pirc Musar, supported by left-leaning voters and supporters of the ruling Freedom Movement, earned 26.8% of the vote. Turnout in the first round was just over 51 percent.
