A fire in the Fatih neighborhood of Istanbul was caused by not one but several explosions, leading to panic among the population, police have launched an investigation, Yeni Akit reported.

"The fire started in a car for an unknown reason and spread to other vehicles. Six vehicles were rendered inoperable. The consecutive sounds of explosions caused panic among the population," the publication said.

The publication notes that fire crews extinguished the flames rising from the cars on Koca Mustafa Pasha Street. Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into the incident.

Earlier, it became known that a car exploded in Istanbul's Fatih district, with flames spreading to parked cars.

The sounds of explosions continued even after the fire broke out. The fire managed to spread to three cars. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames on Koca Mustafa Pasha Street. Information about the details of the incident and the number of casualties is being clarified.
