Japan's Kagoshima prefecture has destroyed 34,000 more chickens due to bird flu infection, Kyodo news agency reported.

According to the agency, this was the fifth case of avian influenza in Kagoshima Prefecture this season. In the last four outbreaks alone, 120,000 chickens were killed.

Since the beginning of the autumn season, avian influenza has been detected in Okayama, Kagawa, Miyagi, Aomori, Kagoshima, Wakayama, Tottori, Aichi and Hokkaido prefectures. Since the beginning of the first outbreak, the Japanese have destroyed about 3.3 million chickens.
