Thirteen Armenians have died as a result of the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. Hovhannes Aleksanyan, the Head of Strategy Development at the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia, told this to a press conference Monday.

Eleven of them died in Turkey, and Aleksanyan read their names.

"We have four casualties in Malatya city of Turkey: Samit Tabas, Ayda Tabas, Aleks Tabas, and Mariam Karatas. We have one dead family in Iskenderun; the members are: Tshun Mesrobyan, Armig Mesrobyan, Mesrob Mesrobyan and Bayzar Silahli. Antuan Horos died in Antioch, singer Zilan Tigris died in Tigranakert [(Diyarbakir)]; she has already been buried; and Yohanna-Karolina Kap, who was a tour guide, died in Adiyaman," Aleksanyan said.

The official Armenian death toll in Aleppo, Syria, is still two: Mirna Tekedjian and her son, Albert Tekedjian.

Aleksanyan added that there are injured Armenians, too, and some of them are still receiving treatment in hospitals.
