There are some disagreements with the authorities of the Republic of Armenia (RA). The Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, said this in an interview with Hraparak daily.

"Our meetings with the head of the RA government and representatives of the authorities in the post-war years [after 2020] have been within the framework of ceremonial, state events, such as, for example, the inauguration of the RA President," said the Catholicos of All Armenians.

"The relations between the [RA] authorities and the [Armenian Apostolic] Church are of a ceremonial nature. Yes, there are some disagreements with the authorities. The Mother See [of Holy Etchmiadzin] has reflected on these issues on various occasions. We do not consider it appropriate to describe the mentioned relations as amicable or the opposite.

The [Armenian Apostolic] Church is aware of its vocation and mission towards its faithful children, and it zealously makes its possible contribution to the issue of the good and safe life of our people and the strengthening of Armenian statehood. The positions expressed by the Church in relation to national, public matters should be understood in this spirit," Karekin II added.
