Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church made a statement to the media during his visit to Aleppo, Gandzasar writes.

He noted that it has always been a special joy for him to be in Syria, a country that welcomed Armenians after the Genocide and shared their homeland, bread and water with them.

"Our people, scattered all over the world, will never forget the love, trust and support shown to Armenians by the Syrian people.

However, I visited Syria today with a broken heart and pain, I witnessed the terrible destruction and loss of life caused by the earthquake, and I saw the many families left homeless. In fact, Syria is experiencing a terrible tragedy today. The grave consequences of the earthquake could become larger if immediate action is not taken.
