U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Kazakhstan on February 28, the press service of Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

The visit will take place on February 28. It is reported that this is the first official visit to Kazakhstan.

The Secretary of State is expected to be received by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and will hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi. On the same day in Astana with the participation of the Secretary of State a C5+1 meeting of the heads of foreign ministries of Central Asia and the United States will be held.

"The agenda includes issues of further development of regional cooperation and partnership with the United States," the Foreign Ministry explained.

The C5+1 format is a multilateral mechanism for interaction between the five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) and the United States. It was established in 2015 to discuss regional economic, environmental, and security issues.
