The death toll from February 6 earthquakes in Turkey reached 44,218.

Turkish Milliyet reports that the Turkish Emergency Situations Department announced new data on the number of victims, according to which the death toll reached 44,218.

The report notes that rescuers are continuing to work in the disaster zone, as well as representatives of other government agencies, volunteers and various foreign groups, the total number of which reaches 239,000.

Strong earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 were recorded in the Marash area on February 6, which resulted in major destruction in 10 provinces of Turkey and northern Syria.
