President Vahagn Khachaturyan of Armenia received Ambassador Patrick Svensson of Sweden on the latter’s National Day.

The President congratulated the Ambassador and wished prosperity to the people of Sweden.

"I would also like to thank for the support that Sweden provides to the Republic of Armenia aimed at establishing peace in our country and the region and, of course, ensuring a prosperous life for our people," Khachaturyan added.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues on the agenda for cooperation between Armenia and Sweden were discussed. Also, the parties touched upon the developments in the South Caucasus region.

The Armenian President presented the details on the history and essence of the Karabakh conflict.

Ambassador Svensson, for his part, emphasized that Sweden supports Armenia's position to establish sustainable and lasting peace in the region.

Both sides highlighted the importance of promoting close cooperation between Armenia and Sweden on various international platforms.

In the course of discussion, views were also exchanged with regard to Armenia's approaches to the normalization of relations with its neighbors.
