We continue to believe that direct dialogue is key towards reaching a durable and dignified peace. Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State, noted this at Wednesday’s Department press briefing.

When asked if the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan “might actually achieve something meaningful” at their meeting scheduled for next week in Washington, Patel replied, repeating the statement made earlier: "We look forward to hosting another round of talks in Washington as the parties continue to pursue a peaceful future in the South Caucasus region."

These talks will be followed by the meeting of Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev in Brussels on July 21.
