Audi presented its fun electric model NSU Prinz 4L, which was made on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of its Neckarsulm factory in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, Kolesa.ru reported.

Neckarsulm is the historic home of the German company NSU, founded in 1873 and “absorbed” in 1969 by Volkswagen.

The NSU Prinz EP4 electric model was developed by 12 young Audi interns together with teachers, and based on the NSU Prinz 4 launched in 1971.

To increase rigidity, a part of the floor and a cylindrical roll cage from the Audi A1 hatchback were cut into the body, the brakes and chassis elements were also “borrowed” from the Audi A1, which greatly increased the rear; this required a large wheel arch and extensions.

Developed with the help of Audi's permanent designers, the exterior of this restomod is carefully crafted, which differs greatly and for the better from, for example, Skoda's annual student projects.

Behind the 30 hp two-cylinder gasoline engine is the 240 hp electric motor. The 19.2 kWh traction battery located in the front trunk is “borrowed” from the Audi Q7 TFSI e quattro hybrid crossover.

The NSU Prinz EP4 was built as a one-off with no intention of mass production. But we wouldn't be surprised if a third-party company—maybe even with Audi's support—picked up the idea for this project, as electric cars and restomods are now on the rise in popularity and it is possible to earn good money from this.
