YEREVAN. – Internet accessibility in Armenia sharply increased in the past three years, Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan on Monday stated during his opening remarks at 4th annual ArmTech Congress 2011.

In Sargsyan’s words, in the case when 1-MB Internet cost 1.2 million drams ($3,210 US) in 2008, this is 50 thousand drams ($134) in 2011. Also, 341 thousand use the Internet in Armenia now, in the case when this number was 80 thousand in 2008. More people in Armenia also use cell phones today, as this number was 1,185,000 in 2008, whereas it is 3,331,000 in 2011.      

Tigran Sargsyan informed that even though people of all ages and social classes now use the Internet in Armenia, the number of younger users is growing.
