The fact is that in Armenia, as well as in several other former Soviet Union countries, there exists a powerful lobby represented by various non-governmental organizations, including those established with the support of many Western organizations. These organizations promote the interests of the United States and its allies, which, as a matter of fact, involve undermining Russia's influence, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during a press conference following the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
“There are many such organizations there. And when there were previous waves of unrest, during which Mr. Pashinyan opposed the previous government and demanded justice, all of this was evident.
We perceive this as artificially inflamed passions. I repeat once again: we know who is interested in this and who controls it. And, unfortunately, the Armenian leadership periodically adds fuel to the fire,” he noted.
