Military doctors from the Russian special purpose medical unit are providing critical medical assistance to citizens of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) who were injured in a devastating explosion near the Stepanakert-Askeran highway. The medical team comprises specialists in various fields, including military surgeons, anesthesiologists-reanimatologists, therapists, epidemiologists, and psychologists.
Earlier, NEWS.am reported that a powerful explosion occurred on September 25 at a gasoline warehouse near the Stepanakert-Askera highway. The explosion resulted in numerous casualties and injuries, with videos of the massive blast circulating on social media. Reports indicate that a 100-ton tank exploded in the incident.
According to the Human Rights Defender (HRD) of Artsakh, the number of injured individuals exceeds 200, with the majority in severe or extremely critical condition. According to him, urgent medical aviation assistance is required to save lives, as the medical capabilities in Artsakh are insufficient to address the crisis promptly.
