At the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Iran signed an agreement with Armenia, Russia, Iraq, Syria, and Turkmenistan on transit trade within the framework of the North-South transport corridor, announced Mehrdad Bazrpash, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

"At the ECO summit, the matter of transit opportunities was emphasized, Iran was presented as one of the main axes, agreements were signed with Russia, Iraq, Syria, Armenia, and Turkmenistan," Bazrpash said, reported the Tasnim news agency of Iran.

He added that Iran will soon complete the construction of the aforesaid transport corridor that will connect the ports of the Persian Gulf with those of the Caspian Sea.

The 16th ECO Summit is being held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
