Medics claim that the deaths and injuries were the result of strikes that the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) carried out on civilians. At the same time, the IDF said that, according to the Israeli version, the deaths and injuries were the result of a crush.

However, The Times of Israel quoted an Israeli army source as saying that during the incident, some Palestinians began moving towards the Israeli military, which was coordinating the movement of the lorries, putting the military "at risk". Because of this, the soldiers opened fire on the crowd.

At least 104 Palestinians have been killed and another 760 injured in a queue for humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, with Israel claiming the deaths were the result of a crush and Palestinian medical services blaming the Israeli military, Interfax reported citing local media.
