We have a situation where every year our exports with the [other] EAEU [(Eurasian Economic Union)] countries increase by dozens of percent; this is quite a positive dynamics, it contributes to the growth of our economy. Vagharshak Hakobyan, an MP of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction and Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, told this to reporters in the NA Monday.

"But we [i.e. Armenia] have a situation where a considerable part of our exports goes to Europe. It is very important that we deepen our cooperation both with our European partners and with our EAEU member partners. But we are still a member of the EAEU Customs Union, and we have to evaluate the situations from this perspective.

I believe we can have more dividends from cooperation with our European partners than we have until now. I consider the approach taken by Armenia extremely important. We must be correct in our calculations, study our opportunities for a long time and seriously also in terms of export.

If we have flaws somewhere that prevent us from having a broader engagement in those markets, we need to fix them. There is no question of drastic [measures]; we are carrying out the actions that will bring benefit to Armenia from the economic side as well," added the Armenian ruling force lawmaker.
