There is one big obstacle in the relations between Armenia and Turkey: it is the absence of Turkey's political decision on the settlement of relations with RA. This was stated today, October 12, at the forum “Crossroads of Peace: Combining Security and Democracy,” by Ruben Rubinyan, Special Representative for the Settlement of Armenian-Turkish Relations.

“It is very important that the process of settlement of relations between Armenia and Turkey remains between the two states. Settlement and reconciliation are different things. These are deep topics. There is a misperception in Turkey that the Armenian Diaspora or the position of the Armenian Diaspora has been and remains an obstacle to the settlement of relations between Armenia and Turkey. This is not the case. It has been proven many times that this is not the case. There is one big obstacle: it is the absence of Turkey's political decision on the settlement of relations with RA. If the decision is made tomorrow, the borders will be opened tomorrow,” he said.

 According to Rubinyan, the position that the Armenian Diaspora can hinder the relations between Armenia and Turkey is also wrong.
