The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction granted the investigator’s motion to detain Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, and he was arrested for two months.

Earlier, the court had granted the motions to arrest Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) MP Davit Galstyan, Archbishop Galstanyan’s assistant Movses Sharbatyan, blogger Armen Aleksanyan, reservist colonel Mihran Makhsudyan, and Ara Rostomyan for two months.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that early Wednesday morning, Armenia's law enforcement officers began searches in the homes of supporters of the Sacred Struggle movement.

They conducted a search also at the residence of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the Sacred Struggle movement. In addition, searches were conducted in the homes of several members of the opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party. The house of Vahe Hakobyan, the leader of the Reviving Armenia party, was searched as well, and his wife was detained.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia had announced that "the participants and leaders of the movement called ‘Sacred Struggle’ had planned to carry out terrorist acts and actions aimed at seizing power in the RA [(Republic of Armenia)]."
