YEREVAN. – Past daily of Armenia writes: As it is known, due to the pandemic, all the mass events and processes planned in crowded places have been stopped in the country (…).

Past newspaper has received information that, due to the current situation, the authorities have made a preliminary decision to also stop indefinitely all the local self-government elections scheduled for this year.

According to the source of the newspaper, on this occasion a discussion was held at the government with the CEC [Central Electoral Commission] chairman on how it is possible to postpone the elections for at least a year, especially with regard to the communities subject to enlargement.

According to our information, the authorities are currently looking for appropriate legal grounds to postpone the elections and resolve the issue of the community leaders who have completed their term.
