YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: Zhoghovurd daily was informed that on March 21, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan invited his [political] team to the government summer house to discuss what to do next.

According to our information, the main topic of discussion during the meeting was the snap [parliamentary] election [slated for June 20] and, in particular, the issue of whether or not to adopt the [new] Electoral Code [(EC)].

Many of those present at the meeting voiced that it is unfair that after their long work, the Electoral Code will not be adopted and the elections will be organized with the old EC. (…) but there are many [among them] who continue to consider it unacceptable to go to the elections solely with the proportional [representation] electoral system.

That is, there are contradictory moods at this moment, also within the ruling faction. They met again on Sunday, and again there was uncertainty—by and large. Again, they did not come to a common denominator.

Yesterday, the correspondent of Zhoghovurd daily noticed that the discussions on the topic of the EC had been moved to the offices of various MPs.

Especially the MPs elected from the provinces are against the neutralization of the rating electoral system.

It is not ruled out that the new Electoral Code will be adopted already in the newly formed parliament—for the next elections.

And now, if there will snap elections, they will be organized with the old electoral system, as Nikol Pashinyan made also such a promise during the negotiations with the leaders of the [opposition] BAP [(Bright Armenia Party)] and PAP [(Prosperous Armenia Party)].
