YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: LSG [(local self-government)] elections will be held in 18 communities of RA on September 25.
On August 21, [respective] documents of about 2 dozen [political] parties, alliances were submitted to the CEC [(Central Electoral Commission)].
The [ruling] CC [(Civil Contract Party)] has been nominated in all 18 communities.
Traditional opposition forces have refrained from running [in these elections].
Let's note that not all applications [to run in these elections] can be registered, as the [incumbent] authorities’ apparatus undertakes the task of obstructing the oppositionists, and they begin to convince the candidates for the council of elders to write a petition, refuse to run [in these elections], so that the [electoral] lists are declared invalid.
