YEREVAN. – Armenian political technologists comment on the content and form of pre-election campaign conducted by the political parties on the eve of the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 6, 2012.

Armenian News-NEWS.am asked political technologist Karen Kocharyan to comment on the video clips presented by the parties.

According to the expert, the pre-election video clip of ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) tells the following: you notice only the bad. But we have done many good things. We shall improve our mistakes in the future. Trust us again.

The election video clip of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) is half pro-government and half pro-oppositional. The pre-election slogan of PAP is ‘We are not the power!’. Considering this their slogan might also be ‘Trust, believe but demand from RPA’!

Karen Kocharyan thinks that Heritage Party has the only hit video clip. It arouses enough good memories for the older generation and is something new for the younger generation.

According to the expert, ARF Dashnaktsutyun promises to double the minimum salary and pension wage.

“I don’t understand why not increase by 4 or 5 times? At the end they will say we could not do more than 6-7 percent raise,” the expert said.

According to the expert, Armenian National Congress (ANC) moves by the motto ‘Just try again’.

As the experts mentioned, in the current elections Armenia’s Communist Party plays the role of Tigran Karapetyan in 2008: ‘Everyone is bad, ANC especially’.

According to Kocharyan, the video clips of all parties are not satisfactory.

Eight political parties and one block have presented their nominations – Republican Party of Armenian, Prosperous Armenia Party, Orinats Yerkir, opposition Armenian National Congress, opposition Heritage Party, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the Communist Party of Armenia, Democratic Party of Armenia and United Armenians Party.

For entering the National Assembly, parties must poll over 5% of votes, while blocks - over 7%.

The election campaign will be held till May 5 - the day prior to elections when campaigning is banned. The parliamentary elections will be held from 8 am to 8 pm on May 6, 2012.
