YEREVAN.- Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received on Thursday pre-election delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Baroness Emma Nicholson.

The sides gave appraisal of Armenia’s cooperation with the European Parliament structures and active participation in the discussion of numerous problems on parliament’s agenda.

President Sargsyan underscored role of the European Parliament in promotion of human rights and democracy adding that Armenia’s participation in Parliament’s work plays considerable role in the reforms carried out in the state.

The ongoing reforms will enable to hold elections meeting international standards. Such elections will promote democracy-building in Armenia, President added.

Serzh Sargsyan and members of the PACE delegation discussed the issues on upcoming parliamentary elections.
