GYUMRI. - Jealousy is one of the versions of the murder of the fiancé of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan’s daughter. The Chief of Shirak region’s police department Karen Babakekhyan confirmed this information to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He announced that the murder definitely does not have political background.

According to rumors circulating in Gyumri, the son of former police officer Samvel Sargsyan was involved in the murder.

On Thursday the fiancé of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan’s daughter was murdered. Karen Yesayan, 27, was found in a Mercedes with a gunshot wound. According to some information, the engagement of Yesayan and Ghukasyan’s daughter was supposed to take place on Friday.

On that same day police Lieutenant Colonel Vahram Beybutyan, 58, was killed in a car accident. He was part of the inspection group investigating the murder of Karen Yesayan.

Police discovered that at 00.50 a.m. Rafik Muradyan, 23, hit Vahram Brutyan with his VAZ-21013 vehicle and disappeared without showing any help.

Muradyan is detained now. A criminal case has been launched.
