YEREVAN. – The leader of ruling coalition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Gagik Tsarukyan went to the meeting with voters with a gun, former Armenian FM Vardan Oskanyan, who is second in PAP’s proportional list, told reporters on Wednesday.

Moreover, Oskanyan thinks that it is not a great thing and no attention should be paid to it.

“Judging by the photographs I would say it’s a gun, but there is no need to make a mountain out of a molehill. If it is allowed legally to carry arms in Armenia than it’s your right, it was Mr. Tsarukyan’s decision to go to the meeting armed,” Oskanyan said.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, when PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan knelt in front of the voters during a pre-election meeting in Etchmiadzin on April 13, something gold gilded resembling a gun was seen on his belt.

However, PAP members denied it to be a gun, stating that it was a gold gilded Vertu cell phone.

To note, according to the 30th article of the Law about free meetings participants of meetings must not carry objects which might be used as weapons.

Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) is a political power included in the ruling coalition.

Founded by Armenian biggest businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, the party debuted in 2007 Armenian parliamentary elections, winning 29 seats in 131-seat Armenia’s National Assembly.

The proportional list of the party includes 165 names. PAP has also nominated MP candidates with the majority election system. Prosperous Armenia Party’s election campaign slogan is: “Believe, trust, demand!”
