YEREVAN. – The Working Group of Armenia’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office studied 22 statements with respect to violations during the campaigning for the forthcoming National Assembly elections, the Group’s manager Koryun Piloyan informed on Friday.

Ten of the aforementioned statements were received from the media. Four of them were sent to the Central Election Commission; two of them received explanations, and a criminal case was opened on one incident. Criminal proceedings were not launched for four other statements, and eleven statements are still under examination.

Aside from the print media, radio and television, the Working Group is also monitoring the publications of the leading online media.

But as per Piloyan, there are numerous cases when the hotlines are misused. He added that press publications very often have either general information or unfounded allegations.
