YEREVAN. – If the authorities seize power just like in the previous years, no one will remain in Armenia because the people have already packed their bags, Social-Democratic Hnchakyan Party (SDHP) Chairwoman Lyudmila Sargsyan stated during a press conference on Wednesday.

As per Sargsyan—who is an MP candidate from the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress—, at first, the people felt intimidated, since the authorities prepare lists, make photocopies of passports, promise money, and infuse upon the people the notion that the authorities have their data.

“For long years they have not removed from the voting lists the [names of] deceased and those who are not in the country. Furthermore, the authorities do not agree to publicizing after [Sunday’s parliamentary] elections the lists of voters who took part in the voting,” the SDHP Chairwoman said.

And reflecting on the international observers, she said: “The observers come to watch, not to document. They drink brandy in their [hotel] rooms and then come to the election precinct.”
