YEREVAN.- The May 6 Armenian parliamentary elections took place in a calm and peaceful atmosphere, US Embassy said.

As told in an e-mailed comment to Armenian News - NEWS am from the US Embassy, the May 6 Armenian Parliamentary elations have left enough room for participation to the opposition parties and election observers.

“We support the OSCE/ODIHR observer mission’s conclusion that the elections were ‘characterized by a competitive, vibrant and largely peaceful campaign’.

However, we also share OSCE/ODIHR’s concerns about the ‘unequal playing field’ during the pre-election period and on election day, as well as about reports of incidents of vote buying and undue pressure on voters», reads the comment.

The Embassy will continue to monitor the findings of international and domestic election observers, as well as the adjudication of election grievances during the post-election period,” the message said.
