TEHRAN. - The Armenian Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I calls on all the Christians and Muslims in the Near East for a dialogue, he said during the fifth meeting of the Interreligious Dialogue in Tehran. The meeting was dedicated to “The role of religion in promoting ethical values in society,” Blagovest-info reports.

“Religion should not create fear and mistrust but should generate mutual understanding, tolerance and trust,” Catholicos said at the meeting, concerning the ethical values in the Near East.

His Holiness Aram I identified three areas of concern: relativism of moral values, politization of moral values, and increasing decay of moral values. According to Aram I, the dialogue is an efficient way of creating mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence among Christian and Muslim states in the Near East.
