Armenian Tashoron (Surb Yerrordutyun; Holy Trinity) Church located in Turkey is included in the list of buildings which will be reconstructed due to the efforts of local Armenians.  

The church located in the Cavusoglu neighborhood of Turkey’s Malatya, native settlement of Hrant Dink, was included in the list issued by Turkey’s Culture Ministry (photo).

Participants of the joint tour of Armenian and Turkish journalists met with representative of the Union of Armenians of Malatya Serdar Boyaci. He organized an excursion to the 300-year-old church.

Armenians were consistent in their efforts to reconstruct the church. The program has been approved and work will start this year, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from Turkey.

After reconstruction, the church will function as cultural center. Meanwhile, Armenians intend to push for permission to conduct religious ceremonies.

The church was used as a military depot. Back in 2002 Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink spoke about necessity to renovate the church.  

In 2010 Tepebasi foundation announced intention to launch reconstruction but the project was not implemented due to lack of funding. Being concerned over the future of the church, local citizens appealed to the government.
