YEREVAN.- President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the head of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy discussed the Karabakh peace process during the meeting on Wednesday.

Speaking after the meeting, President Sargsyan said the sides had reiterated necessity that the conflict must be settled within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and based on UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act.

Threats to use force, sowing hatred and intolerance as well as the attempts to edit history are unacceptable for Europe of the 21st century.

President Sargsyan stressed that Armenia welcomes EU’s readiness to assist implementation of the confidence-building measures and the moves aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.
